Guidelines

Format

  • Performance of Original Poetry
  • Team or Individual
  • 15 performance slots
  • 3 rounds
  • 5 judges
  • Contestant Ages 12 +
  • Sign-up at the Stanwood Community Library Reference Desk or at stanwoodpoetryslam@gmail.com

Rules

  • Poems Performed-Not Read
  • No Poem Repeats (different poem each round)
  • 3 minute limit per poem (10 second grace period before penalty begins)
  • No Music
  • No Costumes
  • No Props
  • First come/first served until the 15 slots are filled or until competition starts
  • Each performance score is the average of the middle 3 scores from the five judges
    Highest average after 3 rounds wins
